WAN 2017-2020 Planning Meeting

The meeting of NGO Coordinators and State Focal Points of the West Africa Network for the Protection of Children (WAN), which took place in Dakar, Senegal on 24 and 25 July 2017, marked a decisive turning point in the life of the Network. It was decisive because for the first time, the State Focal Points of member countries were present, in accordance with the recommendation of the steering committee of November 2016. It was also decisive because, instead of the traditional meeting of coordinators, this year it was a planning meeting which, among other things, made it possible to

Define the role and responsibilities of the state focal points; these focal points, which come from the national state services, will henceforth be part of the national coordination, hence the need to define their role and responsibilities.
Adopt the indicators of the Peer Review on the protection of children and young people in mobility; this review began at the 2016 Steering Committee meeting in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire and will be conducted annually under the aegis of the ECOWAS Gender and Social Affairs Commission.
Doing strategic planning for the RAO, 2017 - 2020
Elaborate the plan of collaboration with the African Movement of Working Children and Youth (AMWCY)
This meeting, organised by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), with the technical support of the Economic Social Service for West Africa (ESS-WA), was an opportunity to make available to the different partners, the French version of the "ECOWAS Care Procedures and Standards for the Protection and Reintegration of Vulnerable Children Concerned by Mobility and Young Migrants". The Portuguese version is currently being finalised and will be available shortly.
